Families and communities play a vital role in a child’s educational success.  Family Fun Nights at Onamia Elementary School are a great way engage families into their child’s learning.  Last month’s Family Fun Night had people wondering, “What’s going on at the school?”  Firetrucks, ambulances, and squad cars were outside the school with their lights on.  Several local agencies came to donate their time and foster relationships with families and the community.  Onamia Schools would like to thank Mille Lacs Health Systems EMS, Onamia Forestry, Onamia Fire Department, Onamia Police Department, Minnesota State Highway Patrol, Mille Lacs County Sheriff Department, and Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department for donating their time.

On November 19th, in an effort to give thanks to families, local businesses have donated over 20 frozen turkeys for this month’s Family Fun Night.  A drawing will be held for families of Onamia students beginning at 6:30 and you must be present to win.  Family Fun Night begins at 5:30 p.m. and will run until 7:00 at Onamia Elementary School.  Families will participate in some educational activities and a small meal will be provided.  The community is invited to come see what all the hype is about.

Onamia Elementary School would like to thank the following local businesses for donating frozen turkeys for families attending the November 19th Family Fun Night: Billie’s Market, Mille Lacs Grand Market, Teal’s Supervalue of Isle, Cub Foods of Brainerd, and the Baxter/Brainerd Super One Foods.
