Learning Model Shift Beginning September 21

Due to the Minnesota Department of Health release today (9/17/2020), the Mille Lacs County numbers have jumped to 13.6 positive COVID cases for every 10,000 residents in Mille Lacs County, 10.18 for Crow Wing County, and 11.53 for Morrison County.  The threshold for schools to shift learning models is when our largest school district county reaches over 10 Positive COVID cases for every 10,000 residents, which is Mille Lacs County.  So we need to shift learning models to the next tier for next week.

We will have a regular in-person school day for all students that are in-person tomorrow (Friday) and then this shift of learning models will begin on Monday, September 21st.  We do have permission from the Region to transition on Monday, September 21st.

The Model will be grades K thru 5 will remain in-person learning for next week, and grades 6 thru 12 will be Hybrid learning for next week.

The following information is for grade 6-12 students:

  1. Each family has been assigned an A (pink slips) or a B (green slips) Hybrid Learning day.  Please be sure to know your letter or please be sure to find out tomorrow so you know.

  2. A groups will be in-person learning at school on Monday and Tuesday, and B groups will be in-person learning on Wednesday and Thursday.  Friday will be a Distance Learning Day.

  3. For the days you are not at school in-person, students will still be expected to be distance learning and to join your classes virtually at the same time as if you were in school.

  4. If you don’t have the internet at home, please talk to your classroom teachers to make a plan.  The District is still waiting on 300 additional computers for students that will be arriving any day.

  5. If you do not know your Google Classroom or email username or password, please report to the media center to get that information.

  6. Please only come to school on the days your group is supposed to attend.  Students will be asked to go home if you are at school on a day that you are not scheduled to attend.

  7. While distance learning, students are expected to be in attendance and participate in every class period daily.

  8. If you don’t have a computer, please talk to Ms. Caron in the media center.  Most of your materials will be through Google Classroom.  Very few paper materials will be sent home.
